- Plan AHEAD! Make sure you have your meals prepared for your entire day If you are going away. Always have good snacks in your purse if you get stuck in traffic or at work.
- Choose foods that are rich in good fat. Fatty food will keep you satisfied longer and will help you with sugar cravings. Good fats are essential when trying to loose body fat as well. Good choices are: nuts, avocado, coconut oil, shredded coconut, chia seeds, sesame seeds, avocado oil, linseed oil and 100% natural nut butters.
- Allow your body time to “digest” and process the food you have just eaten (try to stay away from the kitchen). Usually it takes about 20 minutes after you’ve eaten for your brain to process the fact you are not hungry anymore.
- BE SOCIAL!! Don’t stay locked up at home or don’t go out to bars and restaurants with your friends because you are on a diet. Nowadays most restaurants have healthier options and you can always get your dressing on the side or substitute fries for cooked veggies or a salad. Choose cooked, boiled, oven roasted over fried, deep fried, pan fried and glazed options.
- On that line, try to stay around people that want help you achieve your goals and motivate you rather than people that will tell you are crazy for switching fries for a salad. You would be surprise the amount of people that have the same goals as you do and every supporting world counts when you are striving for success.
- Drink WATER! Loads of water! Most of the time people are thirsty and not hungry and they ended up eating rather than drinking water. Aim for at least 2 to 3 litres of water/daily.
- Choose ONE MEAL a week! Not one weekend or a full day to eat something you are really craving such as a dessert, or pizza or ice cream. That will give you a little comfort when you really crave something and you don’t have to wait a month to have it.
– Do Exercise! Weather you go for a walk, a run or weight lifting the feeling after completing a work out motivates you to stay “healthy” and not blow your diet.
- Don’t give up if you eat something that you consider “bad”. Eating a pack of biscuits won’t make you gain the 3kg you lost back but eating a pack of biscuits everyday for a week might.
- REMEMBER- A diet to loose weight should not be a diet to keep for life. It is a temporary change in your habits in order to achieve your desired weight. Once you have achieve your goal if consumed in moderation you can drink your beer, eat your pizza and maintain your weight.
